Forsyth, Peter Taylor

(1848–1921)

   Theologian.

   Forsyth was born in Aberdeen, Scotland and was educated at Aberdeen University and at Göttingen, where he was a student of Albrecht ritschl. He was ordained as a Congregationalist minister and in 1901 became principal of Hackney College, London. His books include The Cruciality of the Cross, The Person and Place of Jesus Christ and The Work of Christ. He is remembered for his kenotic christology, his argument that God’s self-emptying and man’s fulfilling are the two movements found in Christ which effect reconciliation between God and humanity.
